DeLorean takes to the sky as America’s flying-car team
The famous car brand will build the United States entry in the Airspeeder International Series, with its race debut when the season opens in November.

DeLorean are going racing in the air. DeLorean Motor Company announced at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco on 13 October that it will enter the Airspeeder International Series as constructor of the United States team, racing as the DeLorean Airspeeder Team.
That makes DeLorean the first American constructor in electric flying-car racing. The team will make its race debut when the 2026–27 season opens in November, lining up against national teams in the series’ first international season.
In year one the team flies Airspeeder’s standard Mk3C, with DeLorean leading its design identity. The bigger step comes in 2027–28, when the DeLorean Airspeeder is due to be designed with student engineering teams at US universities, including UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech.
The aircraft design, pilot line-up and sporting programme will all be revealed before the season opener.
Update, 27 October 2026: Airspeeder has named Mason West as a DeLorean Airspeeder Team pilot. Full story: Airspeeder names its first three pilots.
